Another Visit

Over the past 22 (almost 23) months, we've had so many fun times when my mom comes to visit, including last weekend. Here's the recap.

Mom and Danny arrived on Friday in time to help me with the kids after naps and at bedtime and then while I picked up Eric and we went out to dinner. They all had lots of fun playing around the house.

On Saturday, we started the day by witnessing the first of several weekend miracles when the kids slept till 7am (woohoo!). We then all got up and out the door early went to the National Zoo. Despite the heat, we had a great time on our first visit. Eric and Danny took tons of photos.

I'm not sure what Fletch liked more--watching the elephants or riding on Eric's shoulders.

Piper loved walking on the boardwalk to the bird exhibits.

Fletch was enamored with the ducks.

P&F are finally getting to the stage where they'll walk holding our hands, rather than trying to sprint off in the opposite direction.

Fletch and my mom watching the zebras.

We all loved watching the Great Cats (lions).

Piper being "nice nice" to the miniature donkey.

We all got in on the "nice nice" action.

More elephant watching.

The pandas were hiding so we had to look all over for them, including through the glass walled area.

More zoo cuteness from Piper.

After all the fun at zoo in the heat, both P&F fell asleep on the way home in the car. Usually this means nap time will be a disaster, but the second miracle occurred and both of them transferred from the car to the crib and slept an additional 2.5 hours. Miraculous, I tell ya!

The weekend wasn't all just zoo fun. On Sunday, after the kids slept in until 7am again (the third miracle!), we were up and out early again, and started the day with a trip to Silver Diner.

That was followed by a quick stop at the playground.

After all that, we had to say bye bye to Mom and Danny. The only good part about that was that it meant a trip to the airport for the kids. Fletch loves planes, and Piper likes any open spaces where she can run and frolic.

While it was sad to see Mom and Danny go, we know we'll see them again soon, but next time in Boston, for more great adventures.
