Deacon: 7 Months

This is just a short post that I'm using as an excuse to put up this adorable photo.

Deacon's had a series of back-to-back colds over the past few weeks, so yesterday, I brought him to the doctor's just to make sure we weren't dealing with an ear infection or anything. That's where this photo was taken. While we were there, they weighed and measured him.

Birth: 7lbs 9oz, 20.5 inches
2 weeks: 8lbs 9oz (49%), 20.25 inches (32%)
1 month: 10lbs 8oz (66%), 21 inches (31%)
2 months: 13lbs 1.6oz (70%), 23 inches (47%)
4 months: 15lbs 13oz (61%), 25 inches (46%)
6 months: 18 lbs 9oz (71%), 27 inches (68%)
7 months: 19lbs 15oz, 27.75 inches

They ruled him healthy except for this cold. Overall, he's doing great. No big milestones to report. He's still not sitting, crawling, etc. But, I bet by 8 months or so, we'll see some big changes.

Close

There was a time when Piper and Fletch were babies and early toddlers that I wondered if they'd be close, since at the time they just sort of coexisted without interacting very much.  I no longer worried about that since I find them like this every night.

Sharing is Caring

Piper loves to do arts and crafts and projects. For Christmas, we got her a cool art desk. Both kids actually love it, and it must have some magical properties because when they sit together at the desk, they share, say please and thank you, take turns, etc.

It's a Christmas miracle!

Wild and Crazy Family Night

Happy 2014? How did you ring in the New Year? We rang it in having a blast. It wasn't a crazy, up-all-night party, but just an awesome family time at our local Pizzeria Uno.

Maybe this will help him sleep better.
Crazy party hats and glasses.

Piper and her ginger ale toast.

Family pic!

Piper loved this little computer.
Fletch's favorite color is yellow, and lucky him, they had yellow party hats.

Didn't your night include licking chocolate sauce up off a sundae bowl?
It's all fun and games until someone puts a menu on their head.
It was one of those family moments that you dream of when thinking of having a great husband and adorable kids. We decorated hats, ate yummy food, had a ginger ale toast, and a balloon drop and countdown when the clock struck 5pm. I couldn't have asked for a better way to ring in the new year.

Christmas 2013

I'm a week late, but here's a photo post on Christmas/Deacon's first Christmas. Sorry it's so short but with how crazy life has been, in large part caused by how crazy 3-year olds are, I just haven't felt like blogging.

We started the Christmas celebration a few weeks ago when we hung the tree. Piper and Fletch took a lot of care to get some ornaments right where they wanted them.

A few weeks past, and then it was Christmas Eve. Eric's parents came over, and we had appetizers and attempted to watch Polar Express, but we quickly realized that movie is not for 3-year olds. It was scary!

The next day was Christmas, and it was great. Santa visited and brought Piper and Fletch everything they wanted--Toy Story 2 and a Jessie doll for Piper and a Mack truck and Green truck (both characters from Cars) for Fletch. Other big hits were an Imaginext Castle, Magnatiles, and an art desk for Piper to do her crafts. (Cute side note: Fletch loves the art desk too and calls it "Piper's center" b/c it's like the centers they have at school but this one belongs to Piper.) Deacon enjoyed Christmas too, although he was just happy looking at the lights and watching all the commotion.

It was a great holiday, although I'm glad the season is coming to a close. We're all ready to get back to our normal routines.
